At CMA, we’re committed to serving our members by:

  • Advancing, protecting, and preserving their day-to-day activities and business operations
  • Lobbying State regulators to improve industry regulations and the interpretation thereof
  • Developing and promoting a higher level of professional competency and ethics through educational programs
  • Creating cooperative relationships among industry professionals and related businesses

Our Members

CMA represents individuals, sole proprietorships, corporations, and partnerships involved with the origination, selling, or servicing of trust deed loans. Members include those regulated by the Department of Real Estate (CA DRE) and by the Department of Business Oversight (DBO).

In addition to California licensed mortgage brokers and lenders, CMA also represents affiliate members who provide services to our regular members, including title, escrow, and software services, among others.

Join CMA

The California Mortgage Association takes pride in supporting Private Money Lenders with leading-edge educational programs and training, the most up-to-date legislative information and legal resources, and unparalleled networking opportunities – all created to advance the professional development of our members and the success of their businesses.

We are committed to keeping CMA members at the forefront of the private lending industry by providing these services:

Educational Seminars

We believe education is the key to maintaining the edge our members need to meet their daily business challenges. Several times per year we offer in-depth seminars, including valuable members-only sessions.

Networking

Are you a new mortgage broker or interested in getting your California broker license? Rub shoulders with experienced private money lenders at our quarterly seminars. Members are happy to give advice and lend a hand. You will be productive sooner with this inside knowledge. Plus, you will have access to seminar notes, checklists, and rule changes.

Looking for hard money deals or investors? This is the place to get those deals done!

Points of Interest Magazine

The quarterly magazine, Points of Interest, keeps our members abreast of current industry issues and legislative changes and provides a showcase for members.

Legislative & Regulatory Advocacy

Through proactive lobbying to our state representatives, we ensure our member and industry needs are being represented and protected. CMA is instrumental in articulating and advancing the issues and concerns that are most important to our members.

Member and Vendor Directories

The CMA membership and vendor directories are an invaluable resource for networking with peers or seeking out the service of particular affiliate members. The directories also serve the broader California business community by providing access to CMA members.

Seminar Catalog

Members have access to a database of presentations, documents, and videos from past educational seminars attended to review a specific topic or research a new area of interest. This archive serves as a valuable archive of our collective knowledge.

Instructive Webinars

CMA offers informational webinars on a variety of relevant topics, allowing members to continue learning without leaving the office.

Webinar Archive

Members have access to our archive of past Webinars that they can view at any time. These webinars are excellent resources for keeping current and new staff abreast of critical issues facing the private lending industry.

In January 1999, the California Mortgage Association was created through a merger of the Mortgage Association of California (MAC) and the California Trust Deed Brokers Association (CTDBA).

Since inception, our mission has been the ongoing education of California-licensed private money lenders as well as the preservation of our industry through legislative review and advocacy. We take pride in being the voice of trust deed lenders and investors throughout the state and representing our industry’s best interests at all times.

We have two legislative advocates in Sacramento that lobby for our organization.
